NOVEMBER ARTIST - ROB CLELAND

Rob Cleland is certainly a skilled artist with his 33 years of experience. His skill sets include Airbrush, Photoshop, Logo Design, Watercolor, Etchings/Collagraphs/Woodcut, Printmaking, Assemblage, Collage, Painting, Illustration and Caricatures.

Rob was my art professor in college. He was patient with those who lack artistic skills, such as myself, and made each class fun! He is a truly humble friend who's quick to help, including his advice on open water swimming. We thank you for your beautiful art.

One of my favorite pieces Rob painted is below; a mural in Fayetteville, WV.

FEBRUARY ARTIST - JEFF PIERSON

Jeff Pierson is a native of Charleston, WV.  After attending the Columbus College of Art and Design he returned home to pursue his career in Illustration. His work can be seen in print as well as public art mural projects around the state.  Upon his return home he made a goal of working to make West Virginia a state forthe arts.  He began this work at the Museum in the Community where he served as the assistant Curator and Education Coordinator.  He later went on to join the staff at the West Virginia Division of Culture and History (WVDCH) as the Individual Art Services Coordinator. Pierson was appointed the Director of the Arts Section of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History where he served on the boards of the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and was the state liaison for the National Endowment for the Arts.

After leaving the WDCH Pierson taught elementary arts in several local schools as well as owning and operating an evening arts education school. When the Office of Public Art for the City of Charleston was established, Pierson became the first Director and currently serves in the role.

He maintains his passion for illustration and education and continues to incorporate the two in his public life and personal career. Jeff lives in Charleston with his wife Kara and his daughter Sylvia Bleu.
